DIMENSION TABLE

Each clothing brand creates sizes according to its individual standards, which is why it is so important to check the size tables before purchasing. If, after taking measurements, you get results that are not in the table (they are between sizes) and you are hesitant about which size to choose, it is better to choose a larger size. This rule does not apply to skirts (see the skirt measurement table).
Some of my dresses have sashes or strings that can be used to adjust the dress at the waist so that it fits perfectly, because the fit at the waist is crucial for the dress to look flattering on the figure.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR BODY?

You don’t know how to measure your dimensions so that the result is as accurate as possible? What do the terms in the table even mean? To choose the best size for your figure, you need to know your dimensions. If you don’t know them, I encourage you to try them out. All you need is a tape measure, which you can buy at any haberdashery.

Below I present you methods of measuring circumferences that are most important in the process of clothing construction. To make the result as accurate as possible, you can ask another person to help you with the measurements.

BUST CIRCUMFERENCE

This is the widest circumference in the bust area. This circumference is measured across the back at the level of the bust, and in the front by the nipple points.

WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE

The waist is the narrowest part of the abdomen, approximately at or slightly above the navel. Grasp your arms and feel the narrowest place. If you still don’t find the narrowing, you can feel the place between the lowest ribs and the pelvic bones (on the side of the torso).

FIPS CIRCUMFERENCE

We measure the hips at their widest point – at the top of the buttocks. You can check this place by sliding the tape measure down. You slide the centimeter around the circumference from the waist down, releasing the loop, but only enough for it to go further down. When the centimeter slides freely, it is a sign that we have already passed the widest circumference and the widest place should be measured.

HOW TO MEASURE THE LENGTH OF YOUR SKIRT?

In my clothes, I give you the opportunity to choose the length of the skirt. If you have your favorite skirts or dress of a length that suits you, all you need to do is measure ot (the dress should have a clearly marked waist – then you can measure it flat).

However, if you do not have any dress or skirt of the desired length in your wardrobe or you want to try something new, you must measure the length that will suit you. Just put the mesurment tape on and check where the waist is on your body and continue as in the instructions below).

It’s best to ask another person to measure this length, but if we don’t have this option or we want to do it ourselves, here’s how to do it:

Tie the waist with a thin belt or ribbon to clearly define it.

Stand straight, place the end of the tape measure on your waist so that it hangs freely on the side of your leg.
Without bending your legs, try to run a centimeter right next to your leg on its outer side. You can tilt your torso slightly to be able to reach lower with your hand, but do not bend your legs, otherwise the measurement will be incorrect. If you want a knee-length skirt, measure this distance – hold a tape measure at knee height and check the measurement. Accordingly, if you want a longer or shorter skirt, check the measurement to the desired thigh/calf height.

If you are measuring the length of a maxi skirt, you need to go down a centimeter. To do this, hold the tape measure at knee height and then release it at your waist, keeping it at knee level all the time so as not to lose the measurement (then you can bend further to reach your ankle, but still do not bend your legs!). Next, measure the length of your calf to your ankle – this is the best length for a maxi skirt, a longer length may interfere with walking.
